Long before we began
teaching the GP
Implant system to
general dentists, we
needed a simple,
predictable, and
efficient dental implant
system for use in our
own growing general
practice in Bakersfield,
California.
We had tried other
implant systems over the
years, including
NobelBiocare, Imtec, 3i,
Zimmer, BioHorizons,
Astra, and others.
In all, we spent many
thousands of dollars on
implants, surgical kits,
and components.
These other systems
all worked, but we had
constant problems with
complicated and
expensive
instrumentation kits
with small parts that
were easily lost in
sterilization, misplace,
or worse, even thrown
away by team members who
didn't realize what they
were.
As our practice got
busier, we were
developing a real
problem.
Finally, we found the
DICOA Implant system,
with it's simplified
instrumentation, color
coded drill sets, and
low cost of inventory.
Suddenly, we found
that implants were no
longer the complicated
"specialty" procedure we
had all been trained to
think.
Instead, we were
beginning to consider
dental implants as a
routine procedure, no
different and no more
complicated than endo or
crown preps.
The
high costs of other
systems forced
us to plan each implant
procedure in advance,
and we could only order
the component parts
individually for each
patient. If
somebody forgot or the
delivery didn't come in
time, our scheduled day
fell apart.
Now, with the low cost
and simplified DICOA
Implant system, our
general practice stocks
a full set of implants,
abutments, cover screws,
and overdenture anchors.
We have multiple
surgical kits, and find
ourselves using them
without a second
thought, whenever the
need arises.
